Micro crankbait for panfish
About as small as a lipped bait gets on the Tank grid. Panfish forage is tiny and the model is strict about prey size, so this is the archetype built to fit inside it.
What is a micro crank?
A micro crankbait compresses a lipped, weighted body into a very small profile. This Tank grid is 30 mm long, with one lip cell and one ballast cell; fish scenarios test that size against the model’s prey windows.
What the model actually measures
The grid uses 1 cm cells. The Tank computes displaced water, centre of mass, lip force, tracking stability and wobble at its default retrieve speed. It does not predict a running depth or a catch rate. See the equations and limits.
Three balsa cells, one tungsten slug, a single-cell lip, one hook hanger. Thirty millimetres overall.
Tank verdict: Swims
Swims, but barely moves. It is so heavily righted that the lip cannot push it off-axis — a stiff, tight, lifeless action.

- Take out some low ballast or add lip area to loosen it up.
- Line tie is almost on top of the lip. Very little leverage, so the action will be muted.
Compare with the trout minnow
Both designs run through the same Tank model at its default retrieve speed. These figures describe the block builds shown here, not commercial lures.
