Medium-diving crankbait

The middle-of-the-water-column shape: a hollow plastic body with the lip stacked lower and further back under the nose than a square-bill's.

What is a medium diver?

A medium-diving crankbait is a lipped bait built to swim below the surface on a retrieve. This version pairs a plastic body and belly ballast with a lip below the line tie; the Tank tests whether the lip load and righting force balance.

The Tank test

What the model actually measures

The grid uses 1 cm cells. The Tank computes displaced water, centre of mass, lip force, tracking stability and wobble at its default retrieve speed. It does not predict a running depth or a catch rate. See the equations and limits.

ABS shell, a two-cell lip stacked under the tie, four lead slugs along the belly, a rattle chamber amidships.

  • 1 × Line tie
  • 1 × Rattle chamber
  • 2 × Lip
  • 4 × Lead ballast
  • 2 × Hook hanger

Tank verdict: Swims

Swims. A moderate wobble at fast tempo — busy and aggressive, the classic searching action.

Compare with the square-bill

Both designs run through the same Tank model at its default retrieve speed. These figures describe the block builds shown here, not commercial lures.
